The road life takes you on

To assimilate into America means that you have successfully blended in with the American culture and speak the native language fluently. For people emigrating from other countries it is not only a great accomplishment for them to get to the United States but to assimilate into the culture as well. They must not only understand how we do things but they must also understand the different trends that are going on throughout America. For example you will be called an outcast if you wear the wrong clothes, listen to the wrong stuff, and act the wrong way around other people. You must find good friends which will help you not do the wrong things and will show you the right things to do. Some Americans that were born in America have problems assimilating into our culture.  They stand out just as much as immigrants yet some immigrants assimilate better than some Americans.  The culture of America is a little difficult to get used to. We as a whole have a lot better system of democracy, get to speak for ourselves, and get to make our own decisions. As in other countries they are told what they will be from the time they are born from the time they die. That is why so many people want to come assimilate into the American culture because they want a better opportunity at life and want to be able to have their own opinions on different subjects. So to assimilate into America you have to not only  fit in but be smart, and try to get a better understanding of life in America.

  4. I think you are very right in what you are trying to say about immigrants trying to assimilate, but what about you and the peole you have gotten to know? I think you only caught the side that was saying how others are forced to assimilate. What about t hose who are just not comfortable with themselves and feel like they need to be someone else? What do you say about them?
